Under Pressure The Story – Part 7: Epilogue

An.

“Papa was a Rolling stone” van The Temptations”

The story: Epilogue

On Monday morning I’m opening my eyes for the last time in Sioux Falls after an exhibition weekend in the Washington pavilion and an end ceremony with artists. As far as this period is concerned anyway. As usual I’m up early in the morning which gives me the time to reflect on the last 6 six weeks I have experienced.

A very inters period of art and cultural experience during which so many impressions and experiences had to be absorbed simultaneously.

Here I felt at home as from the first second and I never experienced one moment of homesickness.

My body is telling me that the last couple of days have exhausted my body but the return was priceless. Processing 1.000 kg of steel plates into a sculpture with a message of 8 cubic meter is not done alone.

So I want to use the usual cliché and expressing my gratitude to people.

My Vera, who has known me for 35 years and who sometimes is at the crossroad to point me into the right direction but who always gives me the freedom whether or not to take the turn.

Lies and Ko, Ruth and Brecht for their unconditional support with everything I do. Besides being my children they are also my best friends.

Laure, our granddaughter, who colored my Ipad as screensaver.

Rick Disanto, my manager and liaison officer within Lifescape. Barb, my temporary mother, sister and support but above all, together with Rick, two friends for life.

All members of the Disanto family, they all looked at me as one of them.

Anne, the CEO of Lifescape, who entrusted me during six weeks with the freedom and confidence to a complete stranger from Belgium to do his thing.

Steven and Cheryl, my two companions who every day again and with full commitment, cleaned all part’s perfectly as though it was for them personally.

Scott, Gregg, Bill and many other collaborators of Lifescape, for the use I could make of their workspace and for their spontaneous greetings every day.

Jim Clarck, an organizer who reaches perfection. Sculpture Walk Sioux Falls is not without reason being considered as one of the best organized exhibitions in the USA.

Ann Thompson who opened the doors to the media.

My fellow artists for being one group of friends without any envy.

Also as per the cliché I will have forgotten some people because during these six weeks there have been numerous new people who have crossed my path and all of them have enriched my experience and have helped me to choose the route to take.

 On the airplane two songs are playing;

‘Desire’ from Bram Vermeulen and ‘Papa was a Rolling Stone’ from the Temptations.
